Our CSA

We signed up for a CSA. What's a CSA? It's community supported agriculture. Our PTA signed up with a local farm for weekly deliveries to our school. For $25 per week, we get a box filled with fresh, organic fruit and veggies that are in season right now. The PTA gets $5 per box. Farm to table. Tanaka Farms drives the boxes to us, then I ride my bike to pick them up. This leaves a very small carbon footprint for our food. The food is not traveling all over to get to us like food from the markets. We are loving having all these healthy choices on hand everyday. Here's a list of what we got this week:
carrots
spinach
lettuce
tomatoes(6)
bananas(these are not local)
broccoli
russet potatoes
huge strawberries
BTW: everything we get seems to be oversized
