Valentine Hearts Redo

I picked up these hearts at a local thrift store for $.50 each.  I knew I could work my magic on them.

For some reason I left them on the sisal, and made a mess.  Next time I will unstring the hearts to glitter them, it will much easier.

Hanging on the mantle.

Wow, that's a lot of glittered stuff on the mantle.

I glittered these trio of hearts and restrung them on some silver wiry tinsel ribbon.  The other set did not turn out well and I have to redo them.  I should always follow my instincts and stick to what I know and not take advise from people who clearly do not know how to glitter.  You see I tried to use spray mount to adhere the glitter, and it just didn't work.    Now I have to redo the other set.  I'll save those for next year. 

A Valentine Party

My friend threw a beautiful Valentine Party last year and I'm so excited to finally show off the images from the event. This was a mommy and me play date party for kids of all ages. Her modern aesthetic was wonderfully executed in the decor and food.

She picked up the decor at Michael's.

I loved this idea so much I copied it this year.

I'm sneaking in this back side of the vase in so you can see her playroom in the background.

The kids were asked to bring in shoe boxes so they could decorate them at the party with cut up magazines. Later, they all went around and dropped in their valentines.

How cute are these heart Jellos?

What kid party wouldn't be complete with out the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches?

The whole spread was delicious!

Glittered Valentine Tree


I made these hearts and cupids a few years back
and wanted to change up things this year, so I made this tree.

Here's my how to on the Glittered Hearts


I used my cordless drill to make tiny holes in all the wood pieces. I love using my drill. After I drilled all my holes, I took fishing line and tied loops around the pieces to act as hooks to attach the wood pieces to the tree branches.

Craft Lab: Valentine's Part 3

Today, we had to move all the crafting supplies onto the kitchen table. This here Mom was very sore from a crazy kick boxing class and the thought of standing for 30 minutes was daunting. So, here is our 3rd Valentine for this year. I found these super cute, free, printable valentines over at Secret Agent Josephine. My Mom was nice to let me print them out at her house since we don't have a printer over here. I used my Cricut and cut out a square scallop out of red card stock. I cut the printables up and glued them on the red cards. We added some fun little heart stickers and taped a pencil on the back. Happy that's done, now 25 more....

Craft Lab: Valentine's part 1

We are in the middle of Valentine madness around here. We're making 100 handmade valentines for our friends at school and the rest are for a Valentine's Day party. Here's the version we made for Ella's class. My friend gave me her Sizzix cutting machine, so I had to try it out. We glittered the girl version to add a little sparkle. We simply tied the candy on with a 6" piece of re grossgrain ribbon.

Craft Lab: Felted Heart Ring

I needed to craft last night. The kids drove me crazy all day and I needed to relax. This was fun to whip up and quick too. I pulled out a little piece of red roving and formed it into a heart. then I formed a thick band and attached the heart to the band. Super easy and I will wear it Sunday to a really fun Valentine Party.

Craft Lab: Valentine Diorama

Here's a quick and fun little valentine. I used a recycled food (chicken) can and some scrapes of paper, my Cricut, and Mod Podge. This was a rush job, so it's not perfect, but it did get the point across.

Craft Lab: Valentine Wreath

Here's a super easy Valentine's wreath even a child could do. I followed this tutorial from Little Birdie Secrets. I happened to have everything I needed. I think this could also be done by cutting up an old red t-shirt too. You'll need: a Heart Styrofoam wreath, fabric cut into 2" squares, glue (Elmers or Mod podge), sharpened penicil, 24" ribbon and sissors. You basically use the pencil to make a point in the center of the fabric and dip that point in the glue, and poke the pencil into the foam. Repeat until wreath is covered on the front. I used pinking shears and trimmed off any pieces that were hang out too far. Then, I simply attached the ribbon and hung on my Front door. Good Luck!
