decking the halls silver and white

Here's some of our holiday decor. I tried to go simple this year, but it's hard not to go a little crazy. Yesterday, I dug out more decorations and blinged up the mantle with a couple strands of tinsel garland. I feel complete now.

The Charlie Harper birds, are a nice contrast to all the silver tinsel and glitter!

my little white porcelain collection

our card holder has reached mass capacity, so much love from our family and friends.  I love this time of year!

Made By Girl- LOVE

Every year for my birthday I get my self a present.  This year I ordered something I've wanted forever, A LOVE CANDY print by Jen Ramos of Made by Girl.  I love Jens style and I'm so happy to have one of her pieces in our home.  I recycled a really old frame large frame that once held a photo of me circa 1976.  I was planning on spray painting the frame white or turquoise, but I'm glad I just kept in it's original faux wood finish.  Here's my new modern vintage aka Mintage art work.

Paint Chip Art Framed and Hung

I finally got around to framing and hanging my newest art project. I hung it up in the dinning room and love the change.

Here's a close up.
A simple Ikea frame.
Here's its new home.  I've had a sunburst mirror in the same spot for 10 years.  Change is good.  The kids pointed out that the art looks like a bunch of M's like our last name.  I thought it kinda looks like mountains.  I also see arrows.  It kind of changes depending on how close you are to it.

Boo!

We got out our Fall holiday decorations last weekend. The bats flying on the wall is a new installation. I hope the bats stick on the wall until Halloween.
Here's the mantle.  I love how I can sit on the sofa and see the bats in the mirror.

Crystal candlesticks topped off with mini pumpkins.

Have you decorated yet?

Easter Decorating

In an effort to get my house ready for my Stella and Dot Party, I've been cleaning, decorating and painting stuff.
This year's Spring decor is all about birds and butterflies.

The decoupage and glittered eggs adorn the dinning room table.

I even hung up some of my art.

I want this!

I promised my little girl we would redo her room after we did our kitchen. Well, we are still saving for the kitchen and hopefully we can start that project before next year. This waterfall duvet from Urban Outfitters is so perfect for the space I'd like to create for her. I've been looking for a bed skirt that is layered like this, but they are super expensive. This could act as both the bed skirt and a bedspread for the bed. We'll see!

One of my friends is decorating her empty playroom. On one wall she'd like to put a world map on the wall. I thought this was a great idea. Here are a few maps that could work on her wall.

Here's the New Outdoor Rug

The backyard check list is almost done. We spruced up our old patio set with a new coat of paint. We scrubbed the red cushions for the chairs. We got a new red hose, and picked up two new turquoise chairs at Ikea. The new outdoor shades are hung. The rug is perfect. I went with this one because it was black and white. It was also very inexpensive over at Overstock. Today, I ordered the chaise lounge covers. I can't wait to hang out in our cleaned up backyard with our family and friends. I'll try to take some styled photos soon.

the Hunt:: Outdoor Rug/Door Mat

Here's the back yard. We're getting ready for summer. We repainted the black iron patio funniture, and cleaned up the red cushions. We also just got two huge black umbrellas from Ikea to shade the shallow end of the pool and the spa. So color wise, we're working with turquoise, black, grey, and red. I'd like to keep with those colors as I choose a rug for the mat in front of the french doors. The rug can be big, or I can go with a runner. The husband wants color. Here's some things I've found to go with the modern look we're going for.

1. teal outdoor rug from: Domestic Modern
I like this one however, at $270- it's way out of the budget
2. floral outdoor rug from: Furniture Find
at $219
3.& 4. Coral rug from: Plush Rugs
$159 for a 3 x 5
5. Black floral from: Overstock
$31 for a 2x6 runner-great price, but it's not modern
6. Colonial Mills woven in Turquoise: Rugs USA
$139 for 3x5
7. Gray on Gray: Rugs USA
$156 for 3x5-I like this one

Out with the old...in with the new

THE OLD
These beautiful paintings have hung in our little entry since we moved in almost 10 years ago. Everything is changing around here. I'm shaking things up and moving all our stuff to new happy places in our little home.

The New

We re-purchased these wooden screen printed postcards from a local artist for our anniversary. I mounted them in a couple of shadowbox frames from Ikea. I'm loving the fresh look.

I finally finished the wall collage!

The before-EEK

and Afters

Sometimes life just happens and I wake up one day and realize I have stuff to do and time to get it done. That's how I've been feeling lately. I'm so happy to be motivated and crafting again.

Spring Decor: Peacocks and Reniculas

Spring is here and we're enjoying it everyday. This year I kept the Easter decorations to a minimum. Thanks to Target we have some new peacock themes going on. I hung up a bunch of peacock feathers to make a feathery mobile for the dining room. Trader Joe's had the most beautiful Renuculas, that are now beautifying every room.

my PEACE tree

Here's a quick shot of my peace tree. I hung all the new peace signs I acquired this year. I pulled out some vintage Avon white ornaments and hung them up as well as mini disco balls and pretty glittered butterflys. This tree makes my happy every time I look at it.
