Luv these

It's my Birthday this week and I thought about asking for one of these to hang on one our walls in the kitchen.  But then I got into my head to just make these myself.  So, now I'm on the hunt for a cool white plate.  Then we'll see what a little tape and gold spray paint can do.   To purchase these go to Cameo Nouveau.

Craft Lab- Glittered Peace Sign

I'm seriously loving glitter painting. We whipped up this peace sign for my niece's Christmas present. I'm pretty sure she loved it. My six year old daughter helped with this one, here's the directions. Trace a large circle with pencil on a 12 by 12 black canvas. We used a large mixing bowl. Then we did the same thing with a slightly smaller bowl. Then, we took a ruler to make a one inch wide line down the middle. At the center point of the line, we made the left and right legs of the peace sign, both one inch wide. Next, we took leaf green acrylic paint and filled in all the void spaces and left the peace sign white. While this is drying, mix up your glitter. I didn't have the correct shade, so I blended, greens, golds, and browns to achieve the desired color of glitter. Because this is a large piece and the mod podge dries quickly, I worked in sections. Apply glue with a brush, then sprinkle with glittler. Make sure to reuse all the fallen glitter, as to not waste any. After the green glitter was applied and dried, we used silver tinsel glitter for the sign. There you have it!

my PEACE tree

Here's a quick shot of my peace tree. I hung all the new peace signs I acquired this year. I pulled out some vintage Avon white ornaments and hung them up as well as mini disco balls and pretty glittered butterflys. This tree makes my happy every time I look at it.

Michael Franti and Spearhead in the House!!!

For the third week in row, my honey and I been able to go out for a date night. We are really enjoying each other's company and doing things we love together. We double-dated with some good friends this week to see one of our favorite bands, Michael Franti and Spearhead. Michael gets everyone dancing, singing, moving and grooving. His positive message of love and peace was pleasantly received by everyone at the show.

Craft Lab: peace and butterflies

Everything is coming up butterflies around here. I had saved a couple of cabinet doors from this. Here's the run down:
  • Sand board
  • Paint board
  • Cut out alot of butterflies in different colored paper with a paper punch
  • Trace a circle on board with pencil
  • Place butterflies around the circle, add the rest of peace sign, then glue butterflies on with Mod Podge
  • After about 20 minutes, add a layer of Mod Podge all over the board
  • Let it dry, and add another layer of Mod Podge
