My Son's Room

I'm finally finishing up the last details of my son's room.  We picked up these maps (they are really just sheets of wrapping paper) on our travels during the summer and I framed them in a simple white Ribba Ikea frame.  Our Expedit book shelf  from Ikea helps to contain most of his toys.  I picked up these bins at target and they are the perfect fit and color for the space.  It feels great to finally be done.

Little Birdies

I picked  up these 3 little white porcelain like swallow birdies after the holidays and finally got around to hanging one of them up.  I just think they are the sweetest little things.  The collage wall in our bedroom needed some more white, so I freshened it up with the larger one. I still need to add the two small ones before they get broken.  I may add them to another wall in the space.

Craft Lab: Butterfly Cube Update

I picked up this butterfly back in May. Thanks to the lovely comment's on this blog, I went to the Container store and picked up a new display box to put the butterfly in. Lucky for me, the transition from the big first box to the small one went smoothly. I adhered to the wood piece with some hot glue. Now if I can just get the kids not he touch the darn thing.

Adventures in Cake Decorating: the Owl Cake

My Owl cake

My inspiration cake via billacakes

Billacakes inspiration came via Sweetopia

My life has be a bit busy the last week or so. To add to all my stuff, I decided to enter a cake in our school's cake decorating contest. The theme was LIVING. I haven't decorated a cake in forever. It took me about 4 hours to get this completed. It's semi-homemade. I used a cake mix, frosting out of a can, homemade white mountain frosting, homemade chocolate ganache, Hershey's kisses, Junior mints, chocolate chips, gingerbread, Oreos and some fruit candies. This was super fun to put together.
