Craft 52 week 10: spring birdies redo

Here are the ugly birds and mushrooms I got at the dollar store.

A little paint.

The daughter was not pleased I used her cookie poster.

Now, these birdies, mushrooms and owls are modern and so much more my personal style.

My dining room table is now so pretty and bright.

Target dollar bin owls.

I really needed to change up the decor inside and this was the perfect solution. These little birds and owls look great on my new table cloth from target.

Check it out. I found this in the clearance isle. Total score, perfect size!!! Great price. I never find stuff like this on the clearance end caps, I did a happy dance right there at target.

the birds

After school sometimes, we head to the beach for a bicycle ride. The birds were everywhere on this day out. Personally, I was stoked the sun was shining and the big blue sky was out. Last year was gloomy here at the beach and I hope the year ahead is filled with lots of sunshine.

Craft Lab: Bird Painting

My inspiration
my bird tray from Ikea

This painting took 2 days to complete.
At first I was going to just do a few birds,
but after day one, I realized I needed to add more.
I did this in layers all day,
adding new details every half hour or so.
Here's the painting hanging on the kitchen wall.
Everyone has positive comments about it.
I think it could use one last final coat of Mod Podge to give it a nice shine.

A cold trip to see the birds

We braved the cold and wind to visit our wetlands between the rain showers this weekend. The birds were aplenty and put on a great show for us.

Oh My: Bird Watching

Another day at the wetlands. I watched this white egret forever, it was a fabulous hunter. My little point and shoot camera even caught a bird in flight.

Merry Christmas to me!

Our local Ikea finally got this bird tray in stock. So, I drove over in the rain to get my yearly gift to myself. Here's mine from last year.

Mc Garth State Beach

We spent last week exploring a new camp spot, Mc Grath State Beach. Hailed the best bird watching park in California, this out of the way beach was very tranquil. During March thru Sept, most of the sand dunes are closed so the endangered Least Tern can lay their eggs on the beach and raises their babies. We were lucky enough see one of the nests in the sand thanks to the nice camp host/docent. These little terns are very protective, and will let you know when you are too close to their eggs by singing and flying all around, almost attacking you. The beach was fun, lots of sand crabs catching and castle building going on. The driftwood along the beach provided great shelters to protect us from the sun and wind. Our trip was filled with lots of frogs, squirrels, bunnies, birds, crabs and lizards. I can't wait to get back to the beach.
