spin art gift wrap

I saw this on Pinterest, and I knew the kids as while as myself would thoroughly enjoy this art project. I winged it, using what we had on hand. Let's do this:
cut round circles a bit smaller then the bottom of the inside of your salad spinner
place paper on bottom of spinner
drip paint all over paper
Spin.
(you can also use white paper plates)

OK, now we've had our fun.  On to clean up, the spinner was a mess, but a little soaking and scrubbing and it's paint free!

What are we going to do with all our works of art?  We have 2 birthday parties this week and I already love to wrap in craft paper, I thought these circles will look cool on the brown paper.  Perfect for boys birthday wrapping too!

A little REDO

I need to craft. It grounds me, relaxes me, and makes me who I am. My kids best friends are getting a room makeover and this little plaque was way to bright for their new calm room. I simply just painted all the pink to turquoise. Quick and easy.

Craft Lab: Vintage Dresser

We needed to get a new dresser for my son and I really wanted a vintage one. They just don't make new ones like they used to. I began to shop at the thrift stores and couldn't find one at the right price. My search then led to Craigslist, where I found not one, but two pieces from the same seller that I liked. What a bargain! I couldn't wait to get started to change this one up. My son requested the dresser be painted gray, and we just happen to have gray paint that would work. I saw the potential of painting the dresser two colors, but struggled on which parts to paint which. After I primed it all white, I knew the answer. I ended up painting the body and knobs gray, with the drawers white. Here's a quick shot of the piece in the room (no styling). I'm thinking of moving the piece to another wall so it will be next to these. BTW, my son loves it!

Craft Lab: painting rocks

Another fun thing to do with kids while camping: paint rocks. We have lots of art supplies in the RV. The kids came up with this idea. We just washed all the dirt off the rocks, and they had a blast painting them. Simple and fun.
