end of summer camping

We have had an amazing summer. Our last hooray camping trip was divine.  We camped in our favorite place and it did not disappoint.   The water was warm and the waves were just right for our little people. I even went in. Kinda life changing for me, conquering fears and living in the moment. Here's some photos, enjoy!

Just checking in.  We are still in full swing of summer.  School starts back up in two weeks.  Life will be back to normal.

I've been instagraming instead of blogging this summer, find me @mintagehome.

dreaming of summer

I can't help but feel like summers already here. The warm days and longer nights hint at what is to come. This summer we are going to be camping in new places, having new adventures and making wonderful family memories. Jeez, I can barely wait!

Summer almost over

We headed down to Balboa the other day to check out the huge swell hitting our beaches this week. The waves were so big and it was crazy to watch the guys body surfing and surfing. The beach was covered with people oohing and ahhing each set the rolled in front of us.

This is our last week of summer.  I'm so ready for school to start.  I have a super long list of things I want to do, sans the kiddies.

Blogging-I can't wait to start documenting my life again.

Make jewelry-thanks to two great friends, I have a whole new skill set and can't wait to make pretty things.
Gardening-I'm so ready to redo all my containers into succulents=less watering.
Paint-the whole house needs to be painted, I have some crazy ideas.
Organize and Purge-hello this always is a front runner on the to do list, it feels so good.

Redecorate- my daughters room is half way done...
Clean-I need to thoroughly clean the house from top to bottom.

So there's my plan!

Relaxing

This summer is all about the kids. I've kind of been taking a break from crafting and blogging to focus on the family and the kitchen remodel. Here's our local beach. The kids get braver every time they go out, and play in the waves. I thought this picture was interesting, this is a busy beach and it looks like we were the only people visiting.

Here's our hangout for the summer

Craft 52 week 24: homemade sidewalk paint

 Craft 52
week 23

homemade sidewalk paint
Keeping the kids busy is my goal with this craft.  This was so easy  and I had all the stuff on hand.

You'll need:
side walk chalk
water
mallet/hammer
plastic baggies
bowls
paintbrushes

Have the kids put each color of chalk in to a zip lock bag, close it up and go to town with the mallet.  Mash up the chalk until it is dust.  Try to get all the lumps out.  Next, place chalk dust into the bowl and add a little water to make a paste.  Add water until you get a paint like consistency.   Then paint!  The kids pretty much did this all by themselves.  The best part of this craft, is keeps on going.  After were done for the day, we set the bowls aside so we can come back the next day, add water to the bowls again and start painting.  Have fun!

Got Goats?

On our recent vacay we spent some lazy days hanging with these goats. The herd was grazing on my uncle's property and when we let them close to the house they had to be watched. They will eat anything.

This is Queeny. She is the leader of the pack. She was our favorite.

OMG-these's a lizard in the house

Last night when we were getting the kids ready for bed, I found this little lizard hiding out around the laundry basket. The husband caught the little guy and put him in a bowl. The kids both got to hold our new little friend. They decided to free him on the slip and slid. Good times!!!!
