The Dish: Green Juice

We recently purchased the awesome Breville Juicer. It's so fun to use. Almost everyday I make some sort of crazy juice concoction. A little fruit mixed in with the veggies makes for a delicious beverage. I just randomly add stuff we have on hand. This machine rocks. You can add the whole vegetable and rarely even have to chop anything . I can throw in whole apples, too. We just juice organic. Thankfully, we belong to the best CSA from Tanaka Farms and they deliver a wonderful assortment every week to our school. I store all my veggies in these great FridgeSmart containers from Tupperware. I highly recommend these vented boxes which if used correctly can keep fruits and veggies 3x longer. So why are we juicing? The energy we get from this juice is incredible. And all the pulp from the machine goes right to feeding our worms in the compost.

Oh my: veggies

Last week, my dear friend came to visit from Colorado. Before she came here, she visited her family in Fresno. Her father is an avid gardener, here's some of his bounty. We were blessed with so many delicious and organic fruit and veggies. It was if we had won the veggie lottery. I didn't even take photos of everything. We made pies, salads, salsa, steamed veggies, and grilled veggies. We still have so much. I plan on baking up some yummy zucchini muffins sometime this week. Life is good~

I had to just take a quick shot of the new organic bedding that arrived this week. I love it! I have to still paint the walls a nice light grey(not a high priority) and I'd like to reinvent the prints behind the bed. For the prints I'd like to paint the frame glossy white and make collages on them. The prints are a little sentimental to me. My daughter at age 22 months started to wear glasses for a turned eye and she is super far sighted. She was so little and on the first day of wearing her new glasses, we were laying on our bed and she looked up at the prints and said "look at the monkeys." I think I cried. She had such horrible vision she hadn't been able to make out the monkeys before. It was as if she was seeing things for the first time.

I signed up for my CSA for the summer, and opened my first box and found this inside. OMG. I had no idea what it was until I went on the Tanaka Farms website and saw it was a Maui Onion. I sliced it up and made caramelized onions. So sweet and delicious.
